Select a unique User ID and passcode for your M&T Online & Mobile services. Choose security questions that are difficult for others to guess, but easy for you to remember.

Do not share your User ID or passcode with anyone.

Make sure that you always log out of your online or mobile banking session when you're done, so no one else can access your account information. And if you need to step away from your computer, log out of your online banking session or from your mobile banking session before stepping away or putting your device down, so no one sees your sensitive information.

Use a trusted and secure Wi-Fi source whenever you log in to online or mobile banking.

Always use a trusted computer, such as a dedicated personal computer, for your online banking. Never make financial transactions on a shared public computer.

Don't compromise the built-in security protection of your device by "jailbreaking" or "rooting" it to access the operating system code. Doing this can make your device more vulnerable to malware.

Delete text messages containing account information after you've read them.

Take note of the look and feel of the online banking pages you visit. This way, you'll notice right away if there are any suspicious changes to these pages – which could indicate that you have connected to a fraudulent site.
