Credit Card Rates and Payments FAQs

We're here to help answer questions regarding your credit card account rates and how to easily make payments.

You can find your current APR for your credit card in the “Account info” tab in your M&T Online Banking platform or by reviewing the Interest Charge Calculation portion of your monthly statement.

The Prime Rate is a benchmark interest rate used to set rates on consumer loan products, such as credit cards. Prime Rate is based upon the Federal Reserve’s Fed Funds Rate. You can find the current Prime Rate in the money rates column of The Wall Street Journal. If your credit card has a variable APR based on Prime Rate, whenever the Prime Rate changes, the variable APR on your account will likely change with it.

Customers can find their current index rate on the first page of their monthly credit card statement.

Your minimum monthly payment is the greater of $15 or 2.5% of the outstanding balance of your account at the end of the billing period, plus the greater of (i) any amounts over limit or (ii) any past due amounts. As a result, if Prime Rate changes, your variable APR changes along with your interest charges which may increase your outstanding balance which may cause an increase to your minimum monthly payment.

A single late or missed payment may impact credit reports and credit scores. In addition to being reported as late, customer may also incur late fees due to the missed payment.
